(Tucson, AZ)

Artist and Designer Jeanine Colini is based in Tucson (that’s too-sahn), Arizona. Her work has been exhibited internationally in juried shows in Los Angeles CA, New York NY, San Francisco CA, Tucson AZ and Memmingen, Germany, to name a few. Jeanine’s work has been featured in such prestigious design publications as Print, HOW, and U & lc typography journal. It has also been licensed by HomeGoods and sold through American Apparel. Jeanine taught graphic design and typography at Woodbury University in Burbank, California and Art Center College of Design in Pasadena, California. She earned her bachelor of fine arts in communications design from Pratt Institute in Brooklyn, New York, 1981.

“A to Zoo” has the most “legs” of any of Jeanine’s artworks. Created in 1981, it was licensed by the Los Angeles Zoo for their annual “Beastly Ball” fundraiser; original art gifted to James and Gloria Stewart, long-time supporters of the Zoo; appeared in the television series “Dynasty” and the movie “Three Men and A Baby.”

In addition to her “A to Zoo” animal alphabet, Jeanine’s other type-inspired artwork includes “Art of the State” USA map, “What’s Your Sign?” astrology signs, and “AtoZ Cactus” alphabet featuring the majestic cactus of the Sonoran Desert.  When not coaxing critters or cactus into letter shapes, Jeanine enjoys painting brightly colored scenes inspired by nature and animals. Her main medium is watercolor with a side of pastel.

You can purchase Jeanine’s art on her web site JCDA.com. Originals are available as well as prints, custom name art, note cards, fine art gift products, and “A2Zoo by the Numbers”—a counting book for children. She also takes commissions.

Jeanine’s whimsical work is sure to brighten your day!
